Growth Process

Churches and religions won’t tell you this, because they don’t know about it. And yet, it is a matter of life and death and absolutely crucial regarding your final judgment by God. All along, God has wanted you to start something, with Him, but you haven’t yet. What has God wanted you to start? His spiritual growth process.

Process is how God does things. Rather than making billions of people all at once or making them adults from the outset, God allows people to come into existence over time and makes them grow physically from childhood into adulthood.

Similarly, God has created a process whereby people grow spiritually. This is how He obtains people for Himself. For someone to be of God, they must grow spiritually through His Word and Holy Spirit growth process. The Bible speaks of these spiritual growth stages with God:

  • babes
  • children
  • young men
  • fathers

God’s spiritual process can be described in several different ways, but it basically involves the following key elements…

Hear the Word of God; repent; learn the Word of God from Him

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

Hear the Word of God. God is doing all things through His Word. He created all things by His Word, He sustains all things by His Word, and He will judge all by His Word. He Himself is the Word. That is His name.1 Heaven and earth will pass away, but the Word of God will not.2 Therefore, for you to start anything real with God, you need to hear His Word. The Word of God that He wants you to hear is the 66 books of the Bible – Genesis through Revelation. Though penned and compiled by men, it is the only book on earth that God authored and will defend by His Spirit.

Repent according to God’s meaning. The focus of real repentance is not your earthly-fleshly sins. What  is a matter of life and death is your spiritual sin against God. To repent means you change your attitude toward God and His Word, and you start treating God the way He wants to be treated.

You can know for certain that you are not dealing with God if you are being drawn to the following:

  • church
  • religions
  • men (pastors, priests, rabbis, etc.)
  • men’s books about God
“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all.” (Mark 10:15)

God calls people to Himself (not to church or religion or their leaders) and to His pure Word (not to men’s ways or teachings). How you treat the Word of God is equal to how you are treating God Himself. He is the Word.

God is jealous. If you hear His call, you must give up your earlier thoughts and ways, getting rid of what you think about God. Like a child3 beginning a learning process, you must go to Him with nothing. You must clear the way for Him to come in and teach you anew, forgetting your own opinions as well as anything you ever heard about God before, from any religion, church, and world source. Get rid of it. Bring nothing of man. This is repentance. If you undergo this required attitude change, then God may allow you into the next phase of His process...

Go to the Lord, the One Teacher, to understand the Word of God. The Lord God says, “come to Me” and “learn from Me.”4 He means it. He also says to “come out from their midst and be separate.”5 Meaning what? Like Jesus’ disciples did, you would separate yourself from men’s teachings about God. You would come out  to Him. You would go to the Lord as Teacher and stop going to men’s churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, religions – no matter the personal or social cost to you. You would spend at least one year alone with Him (the disciples spent three), learning everything newly from Him. He calls this being “washed” or “baptized” in the Word. If He does not wash you like this, cleansing you of all of men’s teachings about God, He says you have no place in Him.6

“If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” (John 13:8)

At this time, you would ask for the Holy Spirit. It is by the Holy Spirit that the Lord, from heaven, teaches people the Scriptures.7 Jesus’ disciples repeatedly asked Him to explain His words. That is how it works with Him. You must be persistent in asking, seeking, knocking.8 He doesn’t reveal His hidden truths overnight. It takes time and persistence. It’s a process.

Why does He need to teach you the Scriptures? Genesis through Revelation is “sealed” by God – meaning, the Bible contains wisdom that God is purposely hiding from man. In it, He…

  • speaks in His own language;
  • speaks on multiple levels;
  • separates between flesh and Spirit;
  • reveals His own meanings for things;
  • jumps from one time period to another;
  • has deep mystery statements;
  • has deep mystery stories;
  • and more.

Therefore, people who go to the Lord as their One Teacher start to learn His “mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.”9 They learn things that churches and religions (the “many”) don’t teach or understand. Revealing Himself and His hidden truth is how God loves people and comes to know them. If He does not open your mind to really understand the Scriptures, you are not one of His disciples (His “few”), and He does not know you.

Speak and do the Word of God, as taught by Him

“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” (Matthew 7:19)

God wants people to speak His Word in truth and do His Word properly. This is how to love other people. God calls it bearing “good fruit.” But it cannot take place until He teaches you His Word. Therefore, a person’s initial focus should be repenting (of one’s spiritual sins against God) and then going to the Lord as Teacher to understand the Scriptures.

But the “many” do not do it this way. They try to circumvent God’s process. They have not really repented, nor come out (from churches or religions), nor been taught the Scriptures by the Lord Himself in truth. Yet they rush out and do their so-called good works and ministries even though God has not sent them at all (no matter what they say). Their works are in vain, dead, and unacceptable to Him, because such people are not speaking and doing  His teaching of the Word of God.

Persevere with Him to the end

“you have kept the word of My perseverance” (Revelation 3:10)

If people start God’s process, why do they need to persevere with Him in it to the end? Because He says so. Scripture has examples of people who fell away from God at each of His different growth stages (babe, child, young man, father). Therefore, it is quite possible for someone to fall away from Him. People can and do change their minds about following the Lord. It is a real battle. If people do turn from Him and His process…

  • All that they have achieved with God is forgotten.
  • They are cut off from the Lord’s real body (His small, hidden flock).
  • They become deluded and lose their knowledge of God.
  • They are considered by Him to be unbelievers.
  • Their iniquity is not forgiven by Him. They have committed an unpardonable sin unto death.
  • They are dead.

If you don’t like God’s stance on this, know that ancient Israel didn’t like it either10, nor does today’s huge false church (which teaches false ways of salvation). However, God’s narrow way is the right way, and the way that will stand.
