IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD –
THE WORD OF GOD MEANS EVERYTHING TO HIM…

WHO HE IS / His Name
  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
  • And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called the Word of God. (Rev. 19:13)
Creation
  • For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water (2Pet. 3:5)
  • By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. (Hebr. 11:3)
Sustaining ALL THINGS
  • And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. (Hebr. 1:3)
Judgment
  • For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebr. 4:12)
  • Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21)
  • “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.” (John 12:48)
BEING of God
  • “He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.” (John 8:47)
The good part
  • And she had a sister called Mary, who moreover was listening to the Lord’s word, seated at His feet. (Luke 10:39)
  • “but only a few things are necessary, really only one, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42)
Faith
  • So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Rom. 10:17)
The “Seed”
  • The sower sows the word.” (Mark 4:14)
  • “Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.” (Luke 8:11)
The good “soil”
  • “And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit, and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.” (Matt. 13:23)
  • “And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; and they hear the word and accept it, and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.” (Mark 4:20)
  • “And the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.” (Luke 8:15)
Blessed
  • But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and observe it.” (Luke 11:28)
HIS FAMILY
  • But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” (Luke 8:21)
HIS DISCIPLES
  • Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine” (John 8:31)
WASHING
  • “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.” (John 15:3)
  • that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word (Eph. 5:26)
HIS “FLESH” TO EAT
  • Jesus therefore said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.” (John 6:53)
  • And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
  • Thy words were found and I ate them, And Thy words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts. (Jer. 15:16)
LIFE
  • “For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life.” (Deut. 32:47)
  • the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” (John 6:63)
The Truth
  • “Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)
BIRTH IN GOD
  • In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we might be, as it were, the first fruits among His creatures. (James 1:18)
  • for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God. (1Pet. 1:23)
growth in God
  • like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow (1Pet. 2:2)
Perseverance IN GOD
  • “you have kept the word of My perseverance” (Rev. 3:10)
Do not add or take away
  • You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” (Deut. 4:2)
  • I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book (Rev. 22:18)
  • and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. (Rev. 22:19)
proper fear
  • “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” (Isa. 66:2)
PROPHECY
  • Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. (Rev. 1:3)
  • Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.” (Jer. 1:12)
LOVE FROM GOD
  • “And you do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent.” (John 5:38)   “but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.” (John 5:42)
  • “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)   And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
LOVE TOWARD GOD
  • Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.” (John 14:23)
  • “He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.” (John 14:24)
Forever
  • The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. (Isa. 40:8)
  • “BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ABIDES FOREVER.” And this is the word which was preached to you. (1Pet. 1:25)
