The Lord’s Appointed Times

The Lord commanded Moses to tell the children of Israel to assemble for holy convocations unto the Lord at His appointed times, as a statute to be observed “forever.” Seven appointed times were given, with instructions for observance. Four of the appointed times were before Summer, being in the Spring, and three are in the Fall. Are these shadows of things to come, which glorify the Lord?

It should be of no surprise that Jesus fulfilled the four Spring appointments. He died on Passover at twilight. He was resurrected from the dead on First Fruits as the First Fruit of the resurrection. During the days of Unleavened Bread, He spent time in the belly of the earth, as well as the womb in heaven above, which completed the reconciliation between man and God through the actions of the Son of Man, who is the Son of God. He fulfilled Scripture by offering His Flesh and Blood as the spotless Sacrificial Lamb hung on the tree of death on earth. He also offered Himself on the altar in Heaven after ascending to the Father. Yes, the ultimate sacrifice, the One Mediator between man and God, the Word of God who became flesh, performed the Word in truth during the week of Unleavened Bread.

To complete the Spring appointments seven weeks later, He sent the Helper—not the help-mate of flesh, out of man (Eve), who led the first Adam to death. He sent the help-mate of spirit (Holy Spirit) that leads you to the second Adam (Jesus), the Word of Life.

The Lord fulfilled His appointed times of the Spring with His death, resurrection from the dead, reconciling ascension to the Father, and the giving of His Holy Spirit. If you cannot show Him consideration for these important times, what will you be doing when He fulfills the three remaining Fall feasts by His great assembling of believers in heaven, His return to earth, and His marriage feast? Today, where are the holy convocations of people giving glory to the Lord for the events of the Fall harvest?

Churchgoers…

  • You’re celebrating your own times and holidays, and you don’t care about God’s times and holy days.
  • Traditions learned from your family and your church are more important to you than the Word of God.
  • You’re celebrating Easter, Lent, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Halloween, etc., looking for eggs by bunnies, dressed up like ghouls, rather than focusing on the Lamb of God and being dressed in white linen.
