God’s feasts: Father and Son!

Men have foolishly concocted their own “holy” days based on myths and superstitions – Christmas, Easter, Good Friday, Lent, etc. – which have nothing to do with God or His Word.

But the One true God, your Creator, established His holy days in the Old Testament. Then He came in flesh as Jesus of Nazareth (New Testament) and fulfilled the first four of His appointed times. Therefore, through The Son it is revealed that the appointed times ordained by The Father were actually shadows of key works to come in the plan and schedule of God.

If you have regard for God, you should have high regard for His appointed times. They mean everything to Him. He – Jesus, the Lord God of Israel – appointed them for Himself.

My appointed times are these:” (Lev 23:2)
[1] “Passover” (Lev 23:5)
[2] “the Feast of Unleavened Bread” (Lev 23:6)
[3] “first fruits” (Lev 23:10)
[4] “the day after the seventh sabbath” (Lev 23:16) [“Pentecost” Acts 2]
[5] “trumpets” (Lev 23:24)
[6] “the day of atonement” (Lev 23:27)
[7] “the Feast of Booths” (Lev 23:34)

How did the Lord fulfill His first four appointed times?

The Son was sent to do the will and work of The Father, even to the point of death on a tree. He fulfilled His first four appointed times by key events in His life that you should be aware of…

(1) HIS DEATH = Passover

Jesus died on Passover. Jesus is the Unblemished Passover Lamb.

Israel was told to put lamb’s blood on the doorposts and lintel. Jesus is the Door. The Lamb’s blood was on Him.

“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be delivered up for crucifixion.” (Mt 26:2)

“For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.” (1Cor 5:7)

“I am the Door” (Jn 10:9)

(2) HIS BURIAL = The Feast of Unleavened Bread

Jesus was buried in the earth and later ascended into heaven during the week of Unleavened Bread. Jesus is the Unleavened Bread.

“so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Mt 12:40)

“and that He was buried” (1Cor 15:4)

Jesus said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father” (Jn 20:17)

I am the bread that came down out of heaven.” (Jn 6:41)

(3) HIS RESURRECTION = First Fruits

Jesus rose from the dead on First Fruits. Jesus is the First Fruits.

And when the Sabbath was over … they came to the tomb … “you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen” (Mk 16:1-2,6)

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. (1Cor 15:20)

But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming (1Cor 15:23)

(4) HIS GIVING OF THE SPIRIT = The Feast of Weeks

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to His disciples on the Feast of Weeks, the day of Pentecost.

And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. (Acts 2:1)

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4)

“having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.” (Acts 2:33)

What will He do for His three remaining feasts?!

WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE FOR HIS FIRST FOUR APPOINTED TIMES IS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING. DOESN’T HE DESERVE TO BE HONORED ON THE DAYS HE HAS CHOSEN?!

The Lord’s first four appointed times are in the Spring, fulfilled at the time of His first coming. The last three are in the Fall, and will likely coincide with end time events and His return. What will He do to fulfill His three remaining feasts?

(5) The Day of Trumpets

In the days of Moses, trumpets were blown to call God’s people to assemble. Might the Lord call the first assembly of the righteous in heaven on the Day of Trumpets?

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (Rev 7:9-10)

(6) The Day of Atonement

Might the Day of Atonement be the day of the Lord’s return and judgment of the nations? When He returns at the 7th trumpet, Jesus will either be your covering Atonement or your Judge.

“the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls” (Lev 23:27)

the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.” (Mt 24:30)

the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.” (2Ths 1:7-8)

“It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Heb 10:31)

(7) The Feast of Booths

After the Lord’s return and judgment of the nations, He will reign on earth from Jerusalem for a thousand years. Might He fulfill His last appointed time with His marriage feast at the start of His reign? During that time, the survivors of the nations will be punished if they do not go up to Jerusalem every year to celebrate His Feast of Booths.

Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. (Zech 14:16)

And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, there will be no rain on them. (Zech 14:17)

After the thousand years – at the beginning of His eternal kingdom – His heavenly marriage feast will be held in New Jerusalem.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” (Rev 19:7)

And he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” (Rev 19:9)

The Fall feasts are important and alarming! This basic introduction to His feasts doesn’t begin to show how much they mean to Him, and how crucial it is for you to understand and regard them. What’s coming? A lot…

Sixth Seal, Seventh Trumpet, Hamon-gog to Armageddon, the marriage feast of the Lamb. If you think you’re part of His bride, shouldn’t His marriage feast be something you’d want to celebrate with Him?

BE ON THE ALERT FOR HIS FUTURE FULFILLMENT OF THE THREE FALL FEASTS. GIVE HIS APPOINTED TIMES THE ATTENTION THEY DESERVE.

“And he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to come … they paid no attention and went their way” (Mt 22:3,5)

“they all alike began to make excuses” (Lk 14:18)
