Why everyone must overcome the churches (Rev 2-3)

People don’t seem to realize that the Book of Revelation is the Revelation of Jesus Christ…which might also explain why people don’t know that Revelation chapters 2 and 3 are a revelation from God about the organized church, which was turned over to the devil, after all of Jesus’ true apostles died. Savage wolves came in1, and the organized church became the synagogue and church of Satan, from that time until today.

Revelation 2-3 has seven letters written to seven churches, detailing church history of the last 2,000 years. Five churches are told to repent, two are called the synagogue of Satan, and all seven must be overcome. The Lord’s math is clear: 5 repent + 2 synagogue of Satan = 7 overcome. Overcome any and all of the seven:

  1. Ephesus: OVERCOME false apostles.
  2. Smyrna: OVERCOME Judaizers and Nicolaitans2, who focused on flesh and letter of Law, not Jesus and Spirit of the Law.
  3. Pergamum: OVERCOME Roman Catholicism, which threw away the teachings of the God of Israel. The Roman state rules the church.
  4. Thyatira: OVERCOME worldwide Catholicism. Why should Rome, alone, get all the money, respect, and power?
  5. Sardis: OVERCOME Protestantism. Why can’t any group read and teach to gain money, respect and power?
  6. Philadelphia: OVERCOME Messianic Judaism. They think the promises and power of God are still in the flesh and letter of the Law. (Oh, no! The Nicolaitans2 are back!)
  7. Laodicea: OVERCOME the lukewarm, wealthy church of the end days, which is spiritually miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

It is these wolves, dogs, thieves, robbers, vipers, and liars whom you must overcome, if you want to be with God in the end. They are like their father, the devil, because they don’t stand in the truth. Like their father, the devil, they vow to ascend to heaven. And like their father, the serpent of old, they will tell you, “you surely shall not die.” Today, they say, “God loves you.” Yet, to listen to them, and even be among them, is death.

Come out of the churches and overcome them by going to the Word of God, with God, alone, as your only Teacher!

1 “I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock” (Acts 20:29)

2 wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions. (1Tim. 1:7)
